Who are we? – We are person centred beings or professionals working with people who have learning difficulties/disabilities. We believe that through the use of multimedia technologies we can help people to capture their thoughts and express their wants and wishes.

We call ourselves MAPPERS – as we help people to create their Multimedia Advocacy Portfolios or Profiles using computers, digital cameras, video cameras, scanners, audio, sound and text. We believe that the process of creating a profiles have an impact not only on the client’s life but also on the supporters. We all learn to discover new individuals and their personalities that often exist hidden away from us or the environment.

What do we do?
We meet on a regular basis at the Rix Centre at the University of East London and share our experiences, thoughts and ideas. We help and support each other. We also invite leading pioneers in that multidisciplinary field and ask them to share their experiences and work with us so that more people can benefit from the technologies and more people can be supported in a much person centred way.

We are also setting up a wiki - a web page with an edit button – which will become our virtual space for interesting new solutions and discussions. Anyone can read and edit this wiki.
